The Cherokee Sheriff's Office is committed to protecting the citizens of Cherokee County, older adults, and vulnerable populations from fraud, financial exploitation, neglect, and abuse. One of the most effective tools in prevention is education. Through community presentations, our office works proactively with Assisted Living Facilities, Homeowners Associations, Senior Centers, and Senior Advocacy Groups to provide timely, practical information on current fraud trends, warning signs, and steps seniors, caregivers, and their families can take to reduce risk and mitigate the impact of a successful fraudulent attack.
This presentation also explains how the Sheriff's Office partners with Adult Protective Services (APS) to identify, investigate, and respond to suspected cases of abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation (A/N/E). Attendees will gain a better understanding of when and how to report concerns, what happens after a report is made, and how law enforcement and APS collaborate to protect seniors while respecting their rights and independence.
Organizations interested in scheduling a fraud prevention and APS awareness presentation are asked to complete the request form in full. Completed forms should be submitted to the Sergeant over the Financial Crimes and Adult Protective Services Units of the Criminal Investigations Division via email, which is listed below. Submission of the form allows our office to coordinate scheduling, tailor the presentation to your audience, and ensure appropriate personnel are assigned.
