Who Can Join?

The Public Safety Cadets program is open to enthusiastic and motivated youth between 14 and 18 years old. Whether you have a long-standing interest in a law enforcement career or are simply curious about the field, this program offers a fantastic opportunity to explore and learn.

What will you learn?

Participants in the Public Safety Cadets program will engage in a variety of educational and practical activities, including:

  • Law Enforcement Procedures: Learn about law enforcement officers' protocols and procedures.

  • 17 and over can participate in a ride-along with patrol officers

  • Compete in local, state, and national Public Safety Cadets competitions

Interested individuals can apply to the Cherokee Sheriff's Office Public Safety Cadets program by completing the following steps:

  1. Attend a Meeting: Come to one of our meetings, meet the mentors, and meet other Cadets to see if the program interests you.
  2. Fill Out an Application: A mentor will get you an application to take home and fill out.
  3. Submit Required Documents: Provide necessary documents, including parental consent and contact forms.
  4. Interview: Participate in an interview process to discuss your interest and suitability for the program.
